ISLAMABAD (Ghulam Murtaza ): Victims of a housing society owned by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, the former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), staged a massive protest in Islamabad’s commercial hub, Blue Area, to demand their rights.
A large number of protestors gathered and marched toward ‘Sardar Plaza,’ chanting slogans against Sardar Tanveer Ilyas. Tensions rose as some protestors attempted to enter the building, but they were stopped by security personnel. Following the standoff, the protestors staged a sit-in at the main entrance of the plaza.
The protest saw significant participation from women, who lamented that they had invested their life savings into plot bookings over five years ago, yet have not received possession of the land.
The victims leveled serious allegations, claiming that the housing society, ‘Taj Residencia,’ lacks both a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and the required land. They accused the management of collecting billions of rupees from citizens despite these legal and logistical deficiencies.
”We gave our entire life’s earnings for these plots, but Sardar Tanveer Ilyas has kept us on hollow promises,” a protestor stated. “We will not let him rest until we get justice.”
The victims took a firm stance, warning that if the plots are not handed over immediately, the scope of the protest will be expanded across the capital.
