Lahore (Syed Javed Hassan Shah): Lahore Qalandars’ star all-rounder Sikandar Raza has departed to fulfill national team duties, joining Zimbabwe ahead of their historic Test match against England in Nottingham.
The upcoming match marks Zimbabwe\u2019s first Test on English soil since 2003 and their first international appearance in any format in England since 2004.
Raza completed the group stage of the Pakistan Super League for Lahore Qalandars, featuring in 10 matches, scoring 232 runs at a strike rate of 162.23. With two half-centuries and key performances throughout the campaign, he played an integral role in guiding the Qalandars into the play-offs.
Team Director Sameen Rana praised Raza’s contribution and character: “Sikandar is more than just a player, he\u2019s family. His commitment, energy, and passion have inspired everyone in the squad. We will miss him deeply but we\u2019re also proud to see him represent his country in such a historic match.”
Before his departure, Sikandar Raza shared an emotional message: “Lahore Qalandars is very close to my heart, and it\u2019s never easy to say goodbye. But national duty comes first and I have a responsibility towards Zimbabwe. I will be watching every ball from afar and cheering on my brothers in green. Qalandar for life.”
