Lahore (Zahid Yaqoob Khawaja): Pakistan Muslim League (N) President and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday said it is encouraging that all political parties in the Parliament are united on matters concerning national defense and security.
Sharif said that this role of parliamentarians will promote national cohesion and create an atmosphere of unity and solidarity among the people.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui, head of the PML-N parliamentary party in the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, today at Raiwind.
Senator Siddiqui briefed Sharif on the performance of the PML-N parliamentary party in the Senate.
He also mentioned the resolution expressing unity towards national defense, which was prepared with mutual consultation and passed unanimously in the upper house.
Sharif said that while dissent is the beauty of democracy, setting aside all differences for the great cause of national defense is commendable.
