Islamabad (Zahid Yaqoob Khawaja): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Lahore, in close coordination with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore, conducted a successful raid on Ufone Franchise located in Phase 8, DHA Lahore. The franchise was found involved in the illegal issuance of SIMs.
During the raid, 152,000 fingerprints (in PDF format, including 10 and 8 FPS) and evidence of illegally opened Upaisa accounts were recovered from the franchise owner’s laptop. Additionally, 6 Ufone BVS devices, 3 Jazz BVS devices, 7 active Ufone SIMs were confiscated. Two individuals, including the franchise owner and a Ufone Area Sales Manager (ASM), were arrested on the spot.
This enforcement drive underscores PTA’s unwavering commitment to curbing illegal SIM activities and safeguarding Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
