Islamabad (Zahid Yaqoob Khawaja):
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a formal clarification regarding the recent circulation of an outdated press release that falsely suggests YouTube is being shut down in Pakistan.
According to the PTA, the press release in question dates back to September 2012, when YouTube was temporarily blocked following orders from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The authority emphasized that the content currently being shared is old, misleading, and not relevant to the present situation.
PTA confirmed that no instructions have been issued to block or restrict YouTube or any other social media platform at this time.
The public is strongly urged to disregard such outdated information and to rely exclusively on PTA’s official website and verified social media channels for accurate and current updates.
