Khewra (Syed Javed Hassan Shah): The Speaker of the National Assembly visited the historic Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) Salt Mines in Khewra, recognizing the site as one of Pakistan’s most treasured national heritage landmarks.
During the visit, the Speaker was briefed by PMDC officials on the corporation’s operations, ongoing preservation efforts, and the range of tourism facilities available at the Khewra Salt Mines. The briefing highlighted PMDC’s role in maintaining the mines as both a productive mining site and a major tourist attraction.
The Speaker appreciated the historical significance of the Khewra Salt Mines and commended PMDC for its efforts to promote heritage tourism while ensuring responsible and sustainable mining practices.
