Islamabad (Syed Javed Hassan Shah): The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Islamabad, has conducted a major intelligence-led anti-smuggling operation at Chakri and Balkasar, resulting in the seizure of a large consignment of counterfeit cigarettes and dealing a significant blow to organized smuggling networks.
The operation was carried out on the basis of credible intelligence under the supervision of the senior leadership of Customs Enforcement. During the coordinated enforcement action, Customs teams successfully intercepted eleven (11) Mazda trucks loaded with counterfeit cigarettes.
The cumulative estimated value of the seized counterfeit goods along with the offending vehicles exceeds PKR 400 million. The operation reflects the continued resolve of Pakistan Customs to curb smuggling, protect legitimate trade, safeguard government revenue, and defend consumers from the circulation of counterfeit products.
