Islamabad (Zahid Yaqoob Khawaja): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with UNDP, successfully concluded Cybersecurity Awareness Week 2025 with a high-level closing ceremony in Islamabad. The nationwide campaign, observed from 11–17 December 2025, aimed to enhance public awareness on cyber hygiene, digital safety, and information integrity.
The closing event was attended by senior government officials, international partners, telecom operators, academia, and media representatives. Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman HI (M) SI, in his opening remarks, highlighted cybersecurity as a critical pillar of Pakistan’s digital transformation. He outlined PTA’s regulatory measures, public outreach initiatives, and multi-stakeholder partnerships to counter cyber threats, misinformation, and digital fraud while strengthening consumer trust.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Attaullah Tarar, emphasized the importance of responsible digital communication and institutional collaboration to combat misinformation and uphold information integrity.
Dr Samuel Rizk, Resident Representative UNDP Pakistan stated
“As Pakistan develops its digital regulatory ecosystem, we must put in place safeguards that balance citizen protection with legitimate expression.”
During the Telecom Sector Showcase, operators presented their cybersecurity awareness initiatives, with outstanding contributions recognized. PTA reiterated its commitment to sustained cybersecurity awareness through collaboration and innovation.
