ISLAMABAD (Zahid Yaqoob Khawaja): Director Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Dr Ehsan on Wednesday said the successful conclusion of ‘Summer Fiesta 2026’ reflected the commitment of educational institutions to promoting creativity, technology, confidence-building and lifelong learning for the holistic development of students.
He was addressing the ceremony of Summer Fiesta 2026, organised by the FDE at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) G-11/1.
“Programs like Summer Fiesta play a pivotal role in unlocking students’ hidden potential and preparing them for future challenges,” Dr Ehsan said. “Skills such as self-defense are essential for every female student.”
Principal IMCG G-11/1 Raheela Awais said the program was aimed at providing students an effective platform to learn, create and explore new skills during summer vacations.
Around 400 students participated in courses that commenced in June,July including 180 female students who enrolled in the Self-Defense Training course.
Other courses included Software Development and Canva introduced students to digital designing and modern technology, while Creative Embellishment Arts provided an opportunity to refine artistic skills.
Self-Defense Training remained the highlight of the fiesta. The session was supervised by Senior Coach Qamar Nadeem, General Secretary, Islamabad Full Contact Martial Arts Association (IFMA).
“Self-defense should be made a compulsory subject in the curriculum,” Qamar Nadeem said. “It is imperative for every female to learn martial arts & self defense skills for personal safety and well being.
