ISLAMABAD (Syed Javed Hassan Shah) In a landmark achievement, Pakistani students won one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze medals at the 2nd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO), held in Malaysia from July 30 to August 5, 2025.
Organized under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), INSO-2025 featured participants from 19 countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Türkiye, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, among others.
The Pakistani team, mentored by esteemed professors from the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), was carefully selected and rigorously trained to represent the country at this prestigious global forum.
Pakistan’s Medal-Winning Team (2025):
Muhammad Tayyab Bukhari – Beaconhouse School, Abbottabad – Gold Medal
Ammar Asad Warraich – Siddique Public School, Islamabad – Silver Medal
Rawah Javed – Siddique Public School, Islamabad – Bronze Medal
Tatheer Aima Naqvi – Chenab College, Jhang – Bronze Medal
The team was accompanied by Dr. Sajjad Tahir (PIEAS) and Dr. Muhammad Maqsood (Directorate of Education, PAEC) as team leaders.
This historic win highlights Pakistan’s rising profile in nuclear science and technology education and reflects the vital role of PAEC in nurturing young talent. PAEC continues to advance nuclear science across agriculture, industry, medicine, and education, while providing platforms for students to excel at the international level.
The success at INSO-2025 stands as a shining example of how dedicated institutional efforts — particularly by PIEAS and PAEC — are building a new generation of scientists and researchers. Through strong educational foundations and international exposure, Pakistan’s scientific footprint continues to grow on the global stage.
